Campfire status update from Sooke’s fire chief
Sooke’s fire chief tweeted the following earlier today: “Campfire ban is still in effect in #Sooke area. Some northern sections of Vancouver Island ok.”
According to a government release, effective at noon on Tuesday, July 28, 2015, campfires will once again be permitted in the North Island-Central Coast Natural Resource District within the Coastal Fire Centre’s jurisdiction.
Campfires will be permitted on Vancouver Island:
- North of Robson Bight.
- In the Nimpkish Valley.
- North of Nordstrom Creek on the Brooks Peninsula, on the outer coast of Vancouver Island.
In other words, no campfires here.
