  1. Got a complaint ~ the choice of words for the DST poll. Standard time is just that ~ standard, normal, natural time, NOT winter hours. You influence the poll by using those negative words.
In the early 50’s I won a high school debate defending acceptance of Daylight Savings Time, I wish I had lost. It got accepted nationally. This was in Oregon.
The Earth has its ways, and when we defy Nature we invite trouble. If you want an extra hour of daylight after work, go to work an hour earlier, don’t fuck with the clocks.
I’m a mariner, the noon sites establish your Longitude, now what . . . it’s 1300 and are we 20 miles further east than we anticipated? Changing 25 clocks is no fun, twice a year.
If you wanna do something radical, how about changing to a calendar of 13 months of 28 days? It’s Natural, and it honours females, half of the Earth’s population with an average of 13 menstrual cycles per year.
While we are at it ~ legalize Cannabis ~ one of the most stupid and embarrassing laws to come out of the bullshit era. I hope we are beyond that now.
It is not wise to defy Nature. Capt Ralph ~ Sooke

  2. I should also add that there are 13 moons a year. What the hell is with 12? Historians will wonder what we were thinking, maybe not thinking at all?
