At the recent Regular Council Meeting, Council approved a develop permit application from the Sooke Harbour House.
Council considered a development permit to construct a two-story structure at 1528 Whiffen Spit Road. There will be an art gallery on the ground floor, and one hotel guest room on the second floor, at the Sooke Harbour House.
The motion was moved and carried.
About the Sooke Harbour House
The Sooke Harbour House is a long-serving world class resort in Sooke, complete with a restaurant, the newly-established Copper Room Bistro, common meeting rooms and more. They are also a recipient of the Green Tourism Gold Award.
From their website: “One of Canada’s leading Vancouver Island Resorts, our charming oasis offers 28 guest rooms, each individually decorated with the finest amenities. Original artwork, local antiques, and handcrafted furniture are just a few of the things that create such an inviting atmosphere, but it may just be the wood-burning fireplace, jetted tub, and amazing views that truly makes your space a sanctuary.”
Most recently, they are introducing live music. Jamshed will be performing on their lawns, on July 30. This promises to be an evening of fun with Jamshed, a local quartet band featuring Russian, Romanian, Balkan, French, “gypsy” jazz and classical compositions.
